SHPE Detroit – Noche de Ciencias
The SHPE Detroit Professional Chapter had an amazing experience this last week partnering with the Academy of the Americas Elementary – Middle School to host a Noche De Ciencas (Night of Sciences). The goal of this program, Razonemos Juntos: Math Tutoring for K-12 students, is to advance academic performance by improving work habits and study skills to be able to reach students’ highest potential. These habits and skills will help students to understand the importance of work ethics and set them up for life-long success. SHPE-UIC – SHPEKids
SHPE- UIC's started a new program called SHPEKids. Daisy Cueto is leading this STEM effort to increase sustainability in events like Noche de Ciencias and to increase STEM and higher education awareness to younger students. SHPEKids focuses on reaching out to middle school students and get kids involved in STEM at an earlier age. The first successful SHPEKids event was on September 27.
