What is our regional chant?
“Who’s this?” That is our Region 6 chant. When we attend National Conferences like NILA or the SHPE Conference, each Region has a chant. So, this is how it works. Leader: Who’s This? Everyone: Region 6! We repeat this a total of three (3) times, and there you have the Region 6 Chant! So, say it loud and proud!

Scholarships

Apply By June 30 for 2018-2019 Scholarships!

SHPE scholarships help fill the gap in the Hispanic education pipeline from K-12 education to successful career placement, as well as, advanced degree offerings in STEM fields.

SHPE works closely with its IPC members and additional sponsors to offer these scholarships to members every year as part of SHPE’s mission to changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development.

For the 2017-2018 academic year, SHPE provided approximately $250,000 in scholarships to 155 students. This year YOU could be one of those recipients.

The following scholarships are available to eligible SHPE members for the 2018-2019 academic year:

SHPE Professional Scholarship: For applicants who are employed full-time in the U.S. or Puerto Rico in a technical career field AND enrolled in a STEM masters or doctoral degree program.

Requirements include:
·     Minimum 2.75 GPA

·     Half-time student

·     SHPE Member

American Transmission Co. Scholarship – $2,250

The American Transmission Co. would like to provide scholarships to electrical or civil engineering students interested in the power utility industry.

Requirements include:
·     Minimum 2.75 GPA

·     Civil or Electrical Engineering Major

·     Full-time student

·     U.S. Citizenship

Eaton Multicultural Scholarship Program (EMSP) – $2,500

Eaton values the importance of diversity and inclusion and is proud to provide this opportunity to Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering students.

Requirements include:
·     Minimum 3.0 GPA

·     Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering Major

·     U.S. Citizenship

·     Sophomore, junior, or senior standing

Requirements include:
·     Minimum 3.0 GPA

·     Studying in Region 6

·     U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident

·     Sophomore, junior or graduate standing

NBC Universal Telemundo Enterprises – $2,000

Telemundo Enterprises aspires to encourage academic excellence and leadership development among Hispanic and Latino/a college students in technology disciplines. Applicants must participate in organizational activities and be attending college or universities in the following cities: Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, or Phoenix.Winners of this scholarship will have the opportunity to have their name and photo featured on ElPoderEnTi.com and appear on air on Telemundo.

Requirements include:
·     Minimum 3.0 GPA

·     Studying in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, or Phoenix

·     Junior or senior standing

·     SHPE Member

SHPE Scholarships

SHPE Dissertation Scholarship: For applicants who are enrolled in a STEM doctoral degree program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.

SHPE Graduate Scholarship: For Graduate applicants enrolled in a STEM degree program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. The scholarship will be awarded upon the basis of academic standing and financial need.

SHPE Undergraduate Scholarship: For applicants who are enrolled in a STEM degree program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.The scholarship will be awarded upon the basis of academic standing and financial need.

SHPE Graduating High School Senior Scholarship: For applicants who will be enrolled in a STEM degree program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Applicant must be a SHPE Jr. Chapter member and join as a SHPE Student member upon graduation from high school.

Requirements for the above include:
·     Minimum 2.75 GPA

·     Full-time student

·     SHPE Member

SHPE Professional Scholarship: For applicants who are employed full-time in the U.S. or Puerto Rico in a technical career field AND enrolled in a STEM masters or doctoral degree program.

PLEASE NOTE: You must submit a photo/video release form, a student profile including a professional head-shot photo, updated resume, transcripts, and any other official documentation as required by the scholarship sponsor. All degree programs must be in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Scholarship awards are disbursed in two payments during Fall and Spring terms. You must be a full time student and meet GPA requirements for both terms to be eligible for both disbursements. All scholarships require a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 unless specified differently.

All scholarships will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

Employees, direct relatives, and board members are not eligible to apply for any SHPE scholarship.
